If you fancy coming along to two or more workshops you are welcome to do so.
Workshops
Saturday 16th Feb: 11:15am to 1:30pm:
Level 1. Improvers
For players who have been playing less than 9 months.

The Hawaiian Stroke (shortened and lengthened):
bringing volume, accents,
attitude and aggression.
¯
Left hand techniques: damping and vamping, slides and dynamic
tapping.
¯
Inversions, bringing colour.
¯
Reggae (declaring rhythm on the off-beat) and pop (converting guitar
songs to uke – eg Oasis)
Session charge: £15 per
person for the workshop.
There will be a 15 minute break around 12:30.
Saturday 16th Feb: 2:15pm to 5:30pm:
Level 2. Intermediate
Aimed at people who have been playing for about six months to two
years.

George Formby Split Stroke –a devastating right hand technique for
breaking the rhythm and breaking the rules.
¯
Thumb Roll (also known as “triplet”). A lilting slow version …Sit
back with a glass of wine, and a fast version … 200 horses going
past Harrods … William Tell Overture.

Normal strumming: keeping on the beat

Sunday 17th Feb: 11:00am- 2:30pm: Level 3. Intermediate ~ Advanced
This course is designed for more experienced players with some
knowledge of the topics covered in the earlier sessions.

The Fan Stroke: a syncopated “show off” stroke
¯
Flamenco: a guitar related “grab” stroke which also says “look at
me”
¯
Roll Stroke: Fastly executed trill
¯
Finger picking. Melodic laid-back enjoyment.
